Choking on the Katorade

Just as I'm easing back into more regular blogging after a vacation I see that the dear leader of the Brain Dead Animal posse has put this little gem up. I don't have too much more to say than what's been said, Cherniak nails it here and here, Saskboy does a number on her here, Dr. Dawg reflects a bit on the utter stupidity of it all here, and with all that, I can only add that I know exactly what would have happened over at the BTs if a high-profile lefty blogger had made a bizarre, somewhat elliptical comparison between political opponents and Nazis under a title stating that the Nazis weren't responsible for the Holocaust.

The Dumbass Copyright Law Came Back

While I was away from this here blog the Conservatives dropped their copyright legislation, but now they appear to be bringing it back. Scott has called on everyone to tell their MP how stupid this law is. In the meantime, despite another search, I still cannot find a peep from the Blogging Tories. Maybe this story is off-message for them because it isn't about Islamofascist abortionists faking global warming because Dion isn't a leader. Or something.

Copyright Law Round Up

Canada is proposing serious changes to copyright laws and yet, outside of the blogosphere and other geek domains, it would be hard for anyone to tell. If you search for "Canada copyright law" in Google News the top stories are dominated by sites like Slashdot with only one mention from the Grope & Flail over a week ago as well as Reuters story even older than that.

Among blogs I usually read, Saskboy has been relentless in following this issue while JJ points us to, among other things, a news aggregator on the topic.

Do you like the internet?

Do you own an MP3 player?

Do you like to backup your media from one format to another?

Do you enjoy satire?

If you answered "yes" to any of this, this law will affect you. For what it's worth, I was going to see if there had been any comment on this matter among the Blogging Tories (I was wondering whether the only conservative position on this was strictly corporatist CRIA-worship or not), but they haven't said anything at all.

Profiles In Tastefulness: Blogging Tories Edition

It's all over the news, but in case you missed it, there was a bomb attack on bus full of elite Iranian soldiers. Such tactics are often decried as illegal or immoral, particularly by conservatives. However, when such tactics are used on the Iranians, at least one Blogging Tory finds it hilarious! Get a load of this zinger:

"Things haven't been so Sunni lately."

It's funny because it plays on the word "sunny" and the name of one sect of Islam. Did you see how that works? Oh what laughter!

Wait a sec, Sunni extremists in south-eastern Iran? Doesn't that border on Afghanistan? Hey isn't that where Canadian soldiers are locking horns with those Sunni extremists known as the Taliban? I wonder how the Blogging Tories would feel if it came out that the bomb used in Iran was of a similar design to those used in Kandahar. Kind of ruins the joke, eh?
